Neil Gaiman wrote somewhere — I think in an introduction to an issue of BONE, reproduced in THE ART OF BONE or something else that I skimmed in a bookstore but not, apparently, available on the Internet — of the joy of reading MOBY-DICK and examining, I’m trying to remember this right, it’s the phrase that was the whole point of this sentence and this post — “the broken spars of previous drafts” protruding from the narrative.

I’m just here to say, after some really slow progress on this issue, that it must be a lot more fun to look at them in someone else’s work than in your own.

Back to work. Maybe I’ll post some more DANDELION KNIGHT stuff at some point…
